My friend didnt get a mech

Hi there.

My friend started the quest Test Drive in multiplayer and when he was in the middle of it, I joined (I ported in from my ship, which was a bad idead i guess)- after we both completed it, I got a mech, but he didnt. Is there anyway he can get a mech after that or a way to reset the quest?
He has already asked on the steam forums and his nick is queenen | texas.

Any help appreciated.
